About

Bell Electrical has worked out of the same shop on Eisenhower Drive since 1998. We are a three van outfit: myself, my son, and a journeyman who has been with us eleven years. We do domestic and light commercial work, we pull our own permits, and we will not leave a panel open at the end of the day. If a job needs an inspection we book it ourselves and we meet the inspector.

Found a fault three others missed

Lights dimming whenever the air handler kicked in. Two electricians told me it was normal. Marcus put a meter on it, found a loose neutral in the panel, and fixed it in an hour. Genuinely could have been a fire.

    Reply from the provider

Thank you Owen. A loose neutral is exactly the sort of thing a meter finds and an eye does not. Glad we caught it before it went further.

    Panel upgrade done properly

Federal Pacific panel, which I did not know was a problem until they told me. They came and looked for nothing, quoted a fixed price, pulled the permit, coordinated the power company and met the inspector. No surprises on the bill.

    Generator through the hurricane

Fitted in the spring, ran for nineteen hours in October without missing a beat while the whole street was dark. They sized it off an actual load calculation instead of guessing.

    Reply from the provider

Thanks Robert. The load calculation is the part people want to skip and it is the part that decides whether the thing works when you need it.

    Out at ten at night

Breaker would not reset and we had a freezer full of food. Someone was here within the hour. Charged the emergency rate, which was fair, and told me up front what it would be.

    Good work, not the cheapest

They were about fifteen percent above the other quote. Having watched them work I understand why, but be ready for it. Everything was permitted and inspected, which the cheap quote had not included.

    Rewired the whole upstairs

Old cloth wiring in a house from the twenties. Three of them, four days, and they put back the plaster they had to open. You cannot tell where they went in.

    Ceiling fans braced correctly

Turned out the previous ones had been hung off a plastic light box. He showed me the box he took down and the rated brace that went up. Worth having somebody who cares about that.

    Reply from the provider

Appreciated, Kevin. A fan hung off a plastic light box is one of the most common things we take down, and one of the few that can genuinely hurt somebody.

    Straight answers on the phone

Told me what a fixture swap would cost before coming out and that is what it cost. No dance around it.

Work was fine, scheduling was not

The electrical work was good and passed inspection first time. Getting a date took three phone calls and they moved us twice. Worth it in the end but the office side needs help.

That is fair, Andre, and I am not going to argue with it. We have taken somebody on to run the diary since, which should stop it happening again.

    Twenty eight years shows

You can tell the difference between somebody who has seen a thing before and somebody working it out. He had the panel open, found it, and closed it up inside forty minutes.
