I will lift a board and show you what is underneath before I quote. If the frame is sound you get a refinish for a fraction of the price of a rebuild, and I will say so.

The cabinets are beautiful
We had alcove cupboards made for the front room of an 1890s house where nothing is square. They look like they were always there. He scribed them to the wall rather than filling the gap with caulk and you cannot see a join.

Salt air had taken the frame out completely. He lifted a board on the first visit and showed me, which I appreciated. Rebuilt in four days, pulled the permit himself, and it has been through a winter with no movement.
